Shifu: The Art of Making Paper Into Thread
Today, Barbara Nitsberg treated us to a historical walkthrough the Japanese tradition of weaving cloth from thread made of paper followed by an afternoon class of cutting and spinning paper into yarn. Kozo, rice and gampi papers were used along with commercial tissue paper from commercial sewing patterns. The paper is cut into thin continuous strips, rolled and spun then woven into fabric. Thank you Barbara for a wonderful presentation and class.
